GWAR (source Blabbermouth)

Mutant metal-masters GWAR are celebrating the 20th anniversary of their rebirth on Earth with a triumphant tour of their most depraved stomping grounds. Beginning October 7 and lasting until everything is dead, North America shall reel under the savage assault of GWAR, the most dangerous band in this or any other universe. Fresh from their glorious participation in the ultra-sick Sounds of the Underground tour, everybody's favorite Antarctican war-gods will crush the cities of man one by one until the people of Earth are reduced to quivering piles of molten flesh.

"There have been abundant rumors of a hideous summoning, and the great beast T-Rex GOR GOR stirs in his subterranean lair," said spokesman and lead throat-thing Oderus Urungus. "We will harness our gore-flecked war machines as GWAR returns with a devastating 20th anniversary tour, damning all humankind to an eternal doom of pus-drenched necro-bestial nasal violation!"

Since 1985 GWAR has unleashed over ten albums and countless video's in their long and tarnished history on Earth, and have even been nominated for two completely meaningless Grammy awards. In 2004 and 2005 the band released of some of their most successful efforts to date, the much-lauded "War Party", and their first-ever live album, "Live From Mt. Fuji", respectively. The band also terrorized the masses in a special guest slot on this summer's Sounds of the Underground tour, gaining legions of new fans. In 20 unmatched years of metallic majesty, GWAR has set the standard for all things that are loud, smelly, and generally obnoxious, and shall continue their reign of supreme dominance of Earth until the planet is reduced to a seething mudball!

This weeks band link is for Nuclear Assault

http://www.myspace.com/theofficialnuclearassault

They have a new CD that came out a couple weeks ago and you can listen to 3 songs on their myspace webpage. I found them so-so at first but after a few listens I find myself enjoying. Anyone heard the full CD???? I got a chuckle out of the last song on the myspace page.

Hopefully these guys make it to this area for a show. Please post any comments on the new songs are anything else ASSAULT related.

Tampa 24 Vikings 13

My thoughts:

Culpepper had a great year last year but I honestly think that it is probably a mirage(I hope I'm wrong). 3 interceptions, 2 fumbles and several errant passes cost the Vikes this game. Sure he was under pressure for a large chunk of the game but great QB's find a way to win. He needs to step up into the pocket more because often he just sits at his dropback point and gets tackled.

Our weak spot on Defense, the linebackers, played a pretty good game. The whole crew at various points of the game made standout plays and Newman just dominated for a short sequence. Worth keeping on eye on their tackling. I did notice several missed tackles but they didn't seem to hurt this game as the runner would usually run smack into the next defender or in one case the QB would go on to throw an INT.

Sharper was AWESOME. Nice to see a defensive TD so early in the season. And he was layin' the smack down with some nice hits. Played very aggresive. I guess we'll find out if his aggresiveness will cost him later in the season.

Howry had one nice return but seemed to suck on the others. Our kickoff returners just plain sucked.

Where is the running game? Bennett 6 carries -1 yard. YUCK!!!!!

O-line was pitiful but they did seem to settle down in the 2nd half when Goldberg (or was that Gilberg???) was inserted into the lineup for Johnson. Which begs the question why we didn't re-sign Dixon. He wanted to come back. It was a mistake to not bring him back for 1 more year while Goldberg and Johnson develop.

The announcers sure built Hovan up but he didn't do much more than he was doing for us. 2 tackles and 1 fumble recovery. Hey, he used to recover fumbles for us also. That's because he's always trailing the play. The guy still can't figure out a screen pass. You know it's a screen pass when you see Hovan near the QB. It's the only time he ever applies any pressure.

L. Johnstone is good for 1 thing -- rushing the passer. He'll probably end up with 9 tackles this year and they'll all be sacks.

Fumbles, Fumbles, Fumbles. Maybe we need Brent McClanahan to teach these guys how to hold on to the ball. By the way, I still think the outcome of the Super Bowl against the Raiders would have been way different if he hadn't fumbled at the goal line.

Sharper was defensive player of the game and Wiggins was probably offensive player of the game although everything he did was nullified by penalties. No way that was pass interference.

Kluwe wasn't to bad. He may be a keeper.

SACKS: P. Williams, L. Johnstone
INT's: Sharper, Smoot

Prong

A link to PRONG'S myspace website where you can listen to "LOOKING FOR THEM" a song that will be on their upcoming CD. I must say I like.

myspace is a pretty cool website. Gives me a great opportunity to listen to local bands before I go see them. Also is a great resource for finding lesser known national touring acts.
